If the hair is curly, wavy or kinky, the measurement process will differ, as the curls in the hair will cause it to retract making it appear shorter than what its true measurement is. In order to obtain the correct length measurement with curly, wavy or kinky hair, you need to stretch it straight beside a ruler or measuring tape in order to get the right measurement.
